Dave Roberts and the Dodgers are progressing on a new contract, according to several people with knowledge of the unauthorized situation to speak publicly, with an improved extension for the double champion champion of World Series which should be finalized before the end of the team’s spring training camp next week.
Since the Dodgers championship last October, Roberts was to receive a new lucrative agreement – we may perhaps compete with the record contract of $ 40 million that the Chicago Cubs have given Craig Counsell the last off -season to court it Brewers from Milwaukee.
Although it is not clear if Roberts’ new extension would equal the advice over the years (he and the team would have discussed a structure of four years earlier this spring), the New York Post reported Thursday that the discussions between the parties could produce a new high brand for an annual average value, likely to travel the annual salary of $ 8 million in Counsell.

Roberts, 52, begins his 10th season with the Dodgers, and the last before the expiration of his current agreement at the end of the year.
During his mandate with the club, he became one of the most accomplished managers in the history of the MLB.
In addition to the WORLD Series 2020 and 2024 victories of the team – the first titles of the club since 1988 – Roberts won four pennants of the National League, eight crowns of the NL West Division, a manager of the year in 2016 and more matches than any of his peers since his replacement Don Mattingly at the end of the 2015 season.
With a regular career record in a career of 851-507, the percentage of Roberts .627 victories is the highest in the history of the MLB among all the managers of non-trading leagues. His 56 victories in the playoffs ranked sixth in all time, dragging only Bruce Bochy of the Texas Rangers among the managers active by one.
Roberts and the Dodgers have discussed a new contract since the start of spring training. Roberts said last month that it was optimistic to have a new contract in place before the team breaks camp at the end of next Wednesday.
