Coby White scored a 44-point career summit for the Chicago Bulls in a 125-123 victory against Orlando Magic on Thursday evening. The Magic has lost five consecutive games and seven of their last 10, spending their record to 29-35.
Orlando had the chance to link or win the match with 12 seconds remaining in regulation. But Paolo Banchero missed a 3 point pointer and Wendell Carter Jr. caught the offensive rebound. However, its dunk that would have equaled the score came after the buzzer.
With this slippage, Orlando is now the seeded n ° 9 in the classification of the Eastern Conference. Magic will still be among the four lessons lower to participate in the NBA game tournament. But ending like team n ° 9 or n ° 10 means playing an additional match to win the eighth seeded. Being team n ° 7 or n ° 8 means that a victory would automatically make the seventh seeded in the playoffs.
The next games do not seem much easier to Orlando with a five-game road trip that includes clashes against the Milwaukee Bucks (36-25), Houston Rockets (37-25), the Minnesota Timberwolves (35-29) and the Best Cleveland Cavaliers (52-10).
Paolo Banchero and Cole Anthony each scored 20 for The Magic, followed by 19 from Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and the 18 points by Franz Wagner.
“It’s funk and we have to fight,” said Magic coach Jamahl Mosley afterwards. “And therefore our ability to go on the road, to group, to reset our mind and how, what we have to do and group us on the road and continue to fight.”
White’s marking hatching came with a variety of dunks, roads to the basket and 3 deep points. He pulled 16 out of 28 from the ground, making 7 out of 15 in the long term. He struck what turned out to be the winning shooting of the match with 1:28 to do in the fourth quarter. Neither of the two teams scored for the rest of the match.
“In addition to the part of the instant, the leadership, the voice was great,” said Bulls coach Billy Donovan about White’s performance, via Chicago Sun-Totes.
“Even when we became a little frustrated, because it was a very physical game, [White] I just put myself from messaging to the guys, “focus on what we can control,” he added. “Even just going down, I thought it was a great soothing force for our guys and I stayed in it.”
Josh Giddey almost added a triple-double for Chicago, compiling 19 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists, while Tre Jones scored 20.
The victory was only the third of the last 12 Bulls games, but the victory over Orlando could provide an overview of what could be a game match between the two teams while the Bulls were 10th in the east.
The upcoming program of Chicago seems more favorable with the matches against the Miami Heat (29-32), the Brooklyn Nets (21-40), Utah Jazz (15-47) and Phoenix Suns (29-33). But a next six-game road trip includes clashes with the Los Angeles Lakers (39-21), Denver Nuggets (40-22) and Sacramento Kings (32-29).
